Search and rescue teams from Comandos de Salvamento, Cruz Roja, Protección Civil, the Army, and PNC began searching for the census workers.

An intensive search was launched Friday night to locate two people who are part of the Population and Housing Census, on the slopes of Ilamatepec Volcano, in Santa Ana.

Alerts were activated to undertake the search and rescue operation by Comandos de Salvamento, Protección Civil teams, Cruz Rija, Army personnel, and Policía Nacional Civil.

At around 7 p.m., the search began for the two men, who became disoriented and got lost as night fell. The search teams covered nearly 30 kilometers.

The census workers were located early this morning on the other side of the volcano from where they had gotten lost, showing signs of exhaustion and hypothermia, so it was necessary to take them to a medical facility for evaluation.

In the early hours of Saturday, the two young men were located 30 kilometers from where they had gotten lost.
