Brigadistas de Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador have joined the search efforts for the young woman Katherine.

Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador has joined other emergency-response agencies, as well as police authorities, in the intense search for a young woman who was swept away by a current when she tried to cross the passage leading to her home in Colonia Las Brisas of El Congo, in Santa Ana, on Sunday night.

Jairo Giovanni Orellana Carranza, 21, was accompanying the young woman Katherine Gabriela Cruz Díaz, 16, when the tragedy occurred. According to the young man’s account, both tried to cross the passage, but the force of the current dragged them until they reached the creek.

He managed to grab onto some branches and, for a moment, he says, held on to the young woman Katherine; however, the force of the water tore her away.

Since six-thirty yesterday afternoon, teams made up of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, Red Cross, Green Cross, Bomberos, Protección Civil, and authorities began the search efforts, but they were suspended because of the rain and poor visibility.

This morning, the agencies began searching from Final Calle Reyes, Calles Las Pilas, Finca Cortez, Fincan San Cayetano, Caserío Las Mercedes, and Cantones La Joya and Reforma, where the river passes, in search of the young woman Katherine. However, despite the efforts, the young woman’s body has still not been located.

The rivers and creeks have been inspected during the search.
