Francisco Campos, a veteran of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador who is now part of the members of the International Mission of Comandos de Salvamento based in Los Angeles, California, United States, delivered a cash donation collected to help José Antonio Gamero, a volunteer with Comandos de Salvamento who came close to losing his life last Saturday on the Carretera de Oro.

Gamero, together with three other rescuers and an agent of the Policía Nacional Civil, were attending a traffic accident on the Carretera de Oro when a cable was left suspended across the roadway. The volunteers and the PNC were trying to remove it to clear the way for vehicles at around five in the morning.

However, the driver of a tractor-trailer was unable to stop and drove over the cable, causing the men who were helping to be thrown into the air. José Antonio Gamero, 52, suffered serious injuries to his right arm and trauma to his kneecap, so he was urgently admitted to a medical center along with the other injured people.

Now, Francisco Campos, who is visiting El Salvador, delivered a financial contribution to help José Antonio Gamero, who makes a living selling goods on the street to support his family and dedicates his free time to humanitarian service.

Gamero thanked the noble gesture of the veteran Comandos residing in Los Angeles, California, who are part of the International Mission of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador.

José Antonio Gamero received financial assistance.
