An elderly man died yesterday afternoon during the rain generated by the passage of the tropical wave in a ravine located at Finca Los Ríos, in Comunidad Nuevo Amanecer II, Cantón Primavera, in the Departamento of Santa Ana.
Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador, together with the Policía Nacional Civil, recovered the elderly man’s body so that it could be identified by the corresponding authorities.
Meanwhile, Comandos de Salvamento of Lourdes, Colón helped clear branches from a tree that had fallen onto a home in Colonia Los Cobanales, where only material damage was reported. However, in Colonia Las Brisas de Lourdes, blocked storm drains caused serious damage to homes and vehicles, which were covered by the rising water.
Comandos de Salvamento of Nejapa removed another tree that fell onto a home in Comunidad El Rosario, where only damage to the residence was reported.
Volunteers from Comandos de Salvamento arrived to assess the damage to two homes located in Comunidad Ojo de Agua, on Final Calle San Martín, in Barrio San Jacinto, where the families were relocated while the problem is resolved.
Families were also evacuated from Comunidad Nuevo Israel as a preventive measure due to the constant rains and the rising river.
So far, the damage caused by Tropical Storm Bonnie and the tropical wave has left at least 3 people dead and damaged more than 150 homes.
In response, Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador asks residents living in vulnerable areas to remain alert and seek out the shelters made available by the Government of President Nayib Bukele in order to prevent loss of life.
