Sinkhole formed in a home in the San José neighborhood of San Martín

Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador met yesterday afternoon with authorities from Protección Civil, as well as Municipal Protección Civil, to evaluate the country’s vulnerable areas, which have been affected by the passage of Tropical Storm Bonnie.

In addition, they are maintaining the alert due to the passage of a Tropical Wave that will arrive in the coming hours and could cause more damage, all due to the accumulation of moisture.

Therefore, Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador has requested that its branch offices keep volunteer personnel at their headquarters so they can respond to any emergency that the passage of the Tropical Wave may generate.

In Barrio El Calvario, San José passage, in San Martín, Comandos de Salvamento verified damage to the home of the Campos family, caused by a sinkhole inside one of the rooms, endangering the lives of its occupants, including three minors.

Therefore, they have been asked to seek help from neighbors or relatives to safeguard their lives while the relevant authorities take action.

Yesterday’s rains also caused a tree to fall onto a home in Colonia Tikal Norte in Apopa, also damaging the electrical lines.

In response, Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador and Protección Civil have already identified the safest areas to shelter families in the event of floods and landslides that could endanger people’s lives in the vulnerable areas of the municipalities, as well as San Salvador.

In case of emergency, call 2133-0000.
