During the past weekend, Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador assisted at least 7 motorcyclists who suffered accidents in different parts of the country, some of them with severe trauma to their lower limbs.

The Comandos de Salvamento de Sensuntepeque section treated Ricardo Villanueva Velázquez, 16, and Miguel Ángel Villanueva Velázquez, 26, in Caserío El Volcán, San Lorenzo; they suffered injuries when the motorcycle they were riding crashed.

At 10th Avenida Norte and 23rd Calle Poniente, another motorcyclist was hit by a vehicle, causing serious injuries, so he was taken to a medical center.

Another motorcyclist was involved in a traffic accident at kilometer 13 of Carretera de Oro; the victim suffered trauma to his lower limbs.

According to authorities from the Vice Ministry of Transport, the motorcycle fleet is close to half a million, of which only half of the users have a license to drive this type of vehicle; therefore, many are unaware of traffic regulations, and more motorcycle accidents occur because they fail to respect the signs.

Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador assists approximately 10 motorcyclists a day who are victims of traffic accidents.
