A SHARK HAS LEFT US

This post is also available in: Spanish Norwegian Bokmål French Chinese (Simplified) Japanese

Carlos Chávez, a veteran of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador from the 1980s and 1990s, died in the United States, according to his family.

For many years, Carlos was one of the best lifeguards with Comandos de Salvamento, also standing out in service to others as a rescuer; because of his agility at swimming, he was nicknamed “shark.”

He stood out in the work carried out by Comandos de Salvamento during the 1980s, recovered victims of the Montebello mudslide, was a photographer and cameraman for Televisión Educativa, and possibly the first photographer of the Instituto de Medicina Legal de El Salvador.

He migrated to the United States in search of the “American dream” and remained in that country until recently, when death unexpectedly took him.

At Comandos de Salvamento, we will remember him as a kind person, always smiling and willing to serve. That was always his personality.

Chronicle thanks to Ricardo Clement, Alecus.

A great hero has left us.
