Hydraulic equipment is ready for practice.

Due to the increase in traffic accidents on the country’s various highways, which leave Salvadoran families in mourning and pain, as well as people trapped in road collisions, Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador has begun a vehicle rescue course.

Twenty-six young volunteers have enrolled with the aim of overcoming the demanding physical and theoretical tests to which they are subjected, eleven of them young women seeking to become part of the rescue team and demonstrate their strength as they take on new knowledge that will be applied at the various Comandos de Salvamento delegations.

Since Friday, rescuers began arriving one by one, carrying their backpacks and personal protective equipment so they could attend the first classes. In the early hours of this Saturday, they set their boots aside to put on their sneakers and begin the first endurance test, which is essential in this course because of the weight of the extrication machines.

The young volunteers have begun learning about some of the hydraulic equipment available to Comandos de Salvamento, which is used in serious traffic accidents when specialized personnel are required to free trapped people.

Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador seeks to keep its personnel trained through the courses offered thanks to funding from Ayuda Popular Noruega, APN, which has provided financial support for years.
