More than twenty Comandos de Salvamento rescuers are taking the Vertical Rescue course as part of the ongoing training for newly recruited personnel.
The young rescuers come from 9 of the 31 delegations operated by Comandos de Salvamento and will undergo rigorous physical and theoretical training to advance to other levels, such as Vehicle Rescue.
Starting at 5 in the morning, the aspiring rescuers prepare for the physical tasks that are an essential part of joining the Vertical Rescue group, since strength is required to climb up and down ravines, as well as locations where emergencies occur.
One of the notable aspects of this new course is that twelve young women have enrolled. They say they will demonstrate that they are capable of achieving their goals and putting them into practice alongside their fellow members of their delegation.
For 6 weeks, the applicants will be gathered and housed at the facilities of the “Yolanda Elizabeth Ramírez” Comandos de Salvamento School every Friday, returning to their places of origin on Sunday afternoons.
This training is financed by Norwegian Popular Aid (APN), an organization that has supported Comandos de Salvamento for many years. This helps improve each rescuer’s knowledge so they can provide better service to the public.
