Comandos de Salvamento maintains its emergency service nationwide through its branches, with more than two thousand volunteers who have been deployed along the country’s main highways with their vehicle rescue units to respond to traffic accidents.
So far, Comandos de Salvamento’s statistics record more than 30 traffic accidents that have left more than half a hundred people injured during the first days of the Holy Week vacation.
In addition, first-aid posts have been set up at beaches and tourist centers to provide peace of mind to families enjoying the Holy Week vacation.
At the beaches, Comandos de Salvamento lifeguards have begun a series of rescues, ranging from simple to deep-water rescues, as a result of the strong currents generated at different times of day along the Pacific coast. Therefore, it is necessary to follow the lifeguards’ recommendations to avoid becoming victims of changing tides.
This Thursday afternoon, Comandos de Salvamento of Quezaltepeque assisted Martín Aníbal Martínez, 40, who suffered a traumatic brain injury after losing control of his bicycle on Calle a la Toma.
The victim was initially assisted by the driver of a motorcycle taxi, and Comandos de Salvamento subsequently transported him to Zacamil Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
