PREVENTIVE EVACUATIONS DUE TO RAINS

This post is also available in: Spanish Norwegian Bokmål French Chinese (Simplified) Japanese

Brigades from Comandos de Salvamento, Protección Civil, the Armed Forces, Policía Nacional Civil, and the Municipal Mayor’s Office are carrying out preventive evacuations in the Caserío El Angelito area, where last Thursday a landslide buried several homes and caused the deaths of at least 9 people.

Comandos de Salvamento, committed to the lives of Salvadorans, has asked area residents to seek safe shelters that have been set up by the authorities and thus safeguard their lives.

Since the early hours, dozens of families have complied with the directive to avoid a greater tragedy due to the influence of rains generated by the already weakened Hurricane Eta, which is now a tropical depression leaving Honduras but is nevertheless causing some rainfall in our country.

The constant rains, even when light, create danger due to water accumulation, compounded by winds that have already knocked down trees and billboards. In Apopa, Comandos de Salvamento removed the branches of a tree that posed an imminent danger to a home.

Likewise, on roads throughout our country, Comandos de Salvamento is helping remove trees that have obstructed the routes.

In other municipalities throughout the country, the Municipal Protección Civil Committees have decided to seek shelters for people living in vulnerable areas and thus prevent deaths.

Comandos de Salvamento makes an attentive appeal to the population to remain alert during the next 48 hours. In case of emergency, you can call 2133-0000 or 911.
