This afternoon, two people tragically lost their lives in a traffic accident recorded on the Carretera de Oro, near Colonia Altavista San Martín.
A video provided by one of the establishments located in the area shows how the driver of the car failed to obey the stop sign and tried to cross the highway when he was struck by a tractor-trailer traveling from west to east.
The driver of the car, identified as José Vidal Arias, 50, was accompanied by his wife, María Estebana Valladares de Arias, 60, and his granddaughter, Vanessa Molina, 25. Both women were thrown from the car after the impact and died instantly.
The tractor-trailer driver tried to avoid the impact but lost control and veered off the road. Comandos de Salvamento arrived at the scene of the crash, where they confirmed that both women had died, while the driver of the car had only suffered lacerations on several parts of his body and was treated at the scene of the tragedy.
The tractor-trailer destroyed the vehicle in which the two women who lost their lives were traveling as passengers.
