The volunteers of Comandos de Salvamento from the country’s 29 sections continue providing assistance to the Salvadoran population through COVID-19 prevention measures.

Salvadoran health authorities confirmed the fourth person to die from the coronavirus, while 60 active cases remain, and 5 patients had recovered by midday this Monday.

At the initiative of Municipal Civil Protection Committees, Comandos de Salvamento continues sanitizing the entrances to their municipalities, as well as monitoring the people who go to the various bank branches to withdraw the bonus that the Government of President Nayib Bukele has granted to thousands of families during this emergency.

The volunteers of Comandos de Salvamento do not receive a salary and dedicate their service time to the Salvadoran population; therefore, efforts are being made to obtain funds to purchase the food given to the rescuers who are providing their service selflessly, even putting their lives at risk and setting aside their families.

Women—mothers and daughters—who are part of Comandos de Salvamento come to the central headquarters to prepare the food intended for the volunteer staff.
