Members of the Board of Directors of Comandos de Salvamento, at a meeting held this morning, reiterated the call to their delegates to provide coverage only in cases of traffic accidents, people struck by vehicles, road, workplace, and home rescues, as well as pregnancies.
It reiterated that cases presenting symptoms of cough, runny nose, nasal congestion, headaches, sore throat, fatigue, or difficulty breathing will not be attended to, since the only ones authorized to carry out such patient transports are the Medical Emergency System, SEM, as stated by the President of the Republic of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele.
Therefore, the Board of Directors is informing its delegates of these provisions in order to protect the young volunteers. In addition, it ordered that as few rescuers as possible attend to emergencies in their communities, always adopting COVID-19 prevention measures.
This measure is being taken due to the increase in cases and local infections appearing in our country and, consequently, the necessary protocols must be implemented to prevent infections among volunteers.
However, the Board of Directors stated that they are assisting in COVID-19 prevention through sanitization programs carried out in coordination with the Municipal Protección Civil Committees.
