Comandos de Salvamento takes survivor to a safe location.

The constant training by Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador and the Salvadoran Air Force to carry out airborne rescues enabled the excellent helicopter evacuation of the sole survivor of the light aircraft tragedy in which three people lost their lives.

Twenty-three-year-old Wilber Alberto Rivas was the only person injured and was located by army and firefighting personnel, who, after stabilizing him, handed him over to the airborne rescue team composed of Comandos de Salvamento paramedics and Salvadoran Air Force pilots, to bring him to solid ground and subsequently take him to a hospital.

Hours later, emergency response teams assisted in evacuating the three bodies removed from the light aircraft’s impact zone in Changallo, in Ilopango, so they could be identified by judicial, prosecutorial, police, and Legal Medicine authorities.

Comandos de Salvamento regularly conducts training alongside personnel specialized in air evacuations, thanks to the collaboration of experienced Salvadoran Air Force pilots.

On several occasions, rescues have been coordinated both at sea and on land so that people can be taken to hospitals in an emergency.
