Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador, in Berlín and Alegría, carried out several evacuations of families affected by the heavy rains battering the country in recent hours, prompting Protección Civil authorities to declare a yellow alert nationwide.
Seven families from the Las Américas neighborhood in the Municipio of Alegría, Usulután, were evacuated by Comandos de Salvamento and taken to the Community Center of the locality, where they remain because being inside their humble homes represents a safety risk.
Those evacuated include minors, who have already been provided with mattresses and warm clothing while they remain inside the Community Center and receive assistance from the municipal government.
Meanwhile, Comandos de Salvamento in Berlín worked part of the night alongside Municipal Protección Civil to clear landslides that obstructed the road leading from Berlín to Mercedes Umaña.
There were also landslides on the road leading from Alegría to Santiago de María, which have already been cleared by Comandos de Salvamento and Municipal Protección Civil.
In Chalatenango, there are evacuations in the Los Almendros neighborhood. Two families have been moved out of danger.
The Executive Directorate of Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador has alerted its 30 bases and personnel to be ready for any eventuality that may arise from the rains, which could continue today.
