People were brought to safety by Comandos de Salvamento and army members.

Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador were alerted this morning about a fire on 34th. Avenida Norte, in Barrio Lourdes, San Salvador.

The incident was caused by an explosion at the scrap yard, causing the flames to prevent the exit of the two people who were trapped at the back of the business.

The fatalities were identified as Douglas Roque and his son, Franklin Roque, and were discovered when the fire was extinguished. They were removed to be handed over to the prosecutorial and judicial authorities for the legally required identification.

Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador evacuated several families from neighboring houses as a preventive measure, since two homes were affected by the incident.

Some of the people were treated at the scene due to intoxication from smoke inhalation.

Incident leaves two people dead inside scrap yard.
