One of the injured people was taken to Santa Teresa Hospital in Zacatecoluca by Comandos de Salvamento.

This morning, one person lost his life and four others were injured in a traffic accident recorded at kilometer 37.5 of the Carretera al Aeropuerto Internacional El Salvador, in Comalapa.

The traffic accident occurred between a truck carrying corn and a public transportation bus that apparently was picking up passengers in Cantón La Cuchilla, within the jurisdiction of San Juan Talpa, in the Departamento of La Paz.

According to one of the injured people, who was traveling in the truck, they had left San Juan Talpa at two in the morning for Chalatenango, where they had purchased several nets of corn to be sold at the market.

However, apparently the truck owner’s son fell asleep and collided with the rear of the bus, which was parked at the side of the road.

As a result of the impact, the truck owner’s son became trapped among the twisted metal and was freed by volunteers from Comandos de Salvamento, Zacatecoluca branch, Cruz Verde, and Bomberos personnel.

Meanwhile, the driver’s father had lost his life after the impact with the bus. The 50-year-old man’s body was removed from the vehicle and placed on solid ground for the required legal examination.
