COMANDOS RESPONDS TO FLOODING IN COL. SANTA LUCÍA

This post is also available in: Spanish Norwegian Bokmål French Chinese (Simplified) Japanese

Due to the accumulation of bags of garbage in the stormwater drains, the main street leading into Colonia Santa Lucía, in Ilopango, flooded again, affecting three homes.

Rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento, members of Protección Civil Municipal, and CAM agents arrived at the scene and confirmed that the flooding is caused by residents themselves, who throw bags of garbage into the street; when it rains, these block the drains at the entrance to the aforementioned colonia.

Comandos de Salvamento verified the damage caused to the three homes, which are the most affected during the rains that fell for only a few minutes. However, this could worsen the situation if the tropical system announced by the authorities arrives.

Therefore, Protección Civil Municipal recommended not throwing garbage into the street so that it is not carried away by stormwater, obstructing the drains and causing flooding.
