Comandos de Salvamento also provides assistance at the various religious services held throughout the country, where people suffering from hypertension and sunstroke are treated by the pre-hospital care teams on an outpatient basis.

During processions, older adults suffer from sunstroke or high blood pressure, and are therefore treated inside Comandos de Salvamento ambulances.

In addition, Comandos de Salvamento maintains first-aid posts at several tourist centers throughout the country, staffed by paramedics to provide care to vacationers, as well as wound treatment and minor surgery.

At the country’s beaches, the lifeguard personnel of Comandos de Salvamento have rescued more than forty people so far during the Holy Week vacation period. This is due to visitors’ lack of caution, as they disregard warnings from the various rescue organizations to prevent themselves from being swept away by a sea current.

However, the experienced lifeguards remain alert and manage to rescue vacationers who are swept away by the currents; on some occasions, they must contend with intoxicated people who do not heed the warnings.
