STOP THE BLEED CLASS

Dr. Andrew Badulak, a member of Doctors of the Americas, offered the ACS Stop the Bleed course, also known as modern tourniquet use, to about fifty volunteers from Comandos de Salvamento, thereby updating their knowledge for the pre-hospital services they provide to the community.

“Stop the Bleed” is a registered trademark of the United States Department of Defense and the Defense Health Agency, and is part of the American College of Surgeons program. The course teaches modern techniques to stop bleeding and the use of the tourniquet, as it is popularly known.

Each of the attending volunteers received a certificate from the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons.
@alertacomando thanks Dr. Andrew Badulak for the services provided to the volunteers.

New Volunteers Trained

Didactic and real practical classroom experience for new volunteers.

New recruits who are looking to spend quality time helping others participated in the recent pre-hospital care workshop offered by Comandos de Salvamento. This training is to give them a basic understanding while helping those affected by emergent situations that put their health and safety at risk. Over the  course of two weeks, 30 volunteers learned various skills in order to help their communities in need.

Training focused on real skills oriented to field EMS presentations.
Classroom didactics are offered throughout the workshop at the Base Central.
