Edgar Jhony Ramos of CDS and other Salvadoran Rescue teams remember 1986.

EMS and SAR team members from CDS and the Salvadoran Green Cross Veteran Association commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the 1986 Earthquake by placing a floral wreath in the downtown building of Ruben Dario.  Many buildings downtown collapsed on victims trapping them and causing many deaths and injuries. Urban Rescue teams endured many nights without sleep recovering victims. 20 yo Victor Carcamo was caught off guard when rushing water envelpoed the Arenal River located at 12th Avenue South and Blvd. Venezuela in San Salvador. Victor stated he survived by treading water at least a km and was about to drown when a switft river rescue team from Comandos de Salvamento saved his life. The patient was treated for hypothermia and transported to the walk-in clinic of Comandos in order to suture some minor lacerations.
