CDS Supports Presidential Buen Vivir Festival

Comandos de Salvamento again participated in the government sponsored good life festival this year with President Salvador Sánchez outside the old presidential house in the neighborhood of Barrio San Jacinto. Comandos were present to show first aid equipment, promote nursing and pharmacy educational services and also offer free family health consults.

New Volunteers Trained

Didactic and real practical classroom experience for new volunteers.

New recruits who are looking to spend quality time helping others participated in the recent pre-hospital care workshop offered by Comandos de Salvamento. This training is to give them a basic understanding while helping those affected by emergent situations that put their health and safety at risk. Over the  course of two weeks, 30 volunteers learned various skills in order to help their communities in need.

Training focused on real skills oriented to field EMS presentations.
Classroom didactics are offered throughout the workshop at the Base Central.

EMS Calls Increase over the last Few Hours

One person lost their lives when an illegal fireworks factory “Coheteria” exploded.
Four more burn victims were assisted by Comandos de Salvamento first responders.

CDS has intensified it’s operations over the last few days due to the high number of emergency calls accumulated. There was a firework factory explosion in Ciudad Delgado in Colonia la Milagrosa.  The National Bomberos also assisted. Comandos de Salvamento offered mental health support for those overwhelmed by the experience and also fought the fire side by side with firefighters.
