Thousands Present at the Commerce Parade

Thousands of people participated in the traditional commerce parade  that started at the Plaza Las Americas and ended in Cuscatlan Park in San Salvador. Colorful floats with their queens, clowns, cheerleaders, “Viejos de Agosto” and peace bands entertained the crowd of children and young families that  formed a compact fence along the route of the colorful and proud event.

Patron Saint Festival Begins

This Sunday, the traditional “correo” parade formerly commenced the  “Fiestas Agostinos” dedicated to the patron saint of El Salvador del Mundo. Comando Volunteers participated in the parade to offer security in case of emergencies. Eight Ambulances and 50 EMS workers accompanied the parade that went throughout the main streets in San Salvador. Comandos will also be participating in the traditional “comercial” parade on Aug 3, and the infamous lowering of the Salvador del Mundo Statue on Aug 5. Congratulations to every Salvadoran that soon will be on vacation. Comandos will continue to work and be ever ready for emergencies. Fotos: Francisco Campos.

Helping out in Colima, Suchitoto

300 families that were victims of tropical storm Agatha were given donated food via Assembly for Peace Cooperation of Spain in Colima, just outside of Suchitoto. The Comandos maintain ongoing contact with the communities and are taking census and data on how many were affected by the rains these last few months.
