Comandos de Salvamento came together in solidarity with other “Anonymous Heroes” of El Salvador by sending a delegation of it’s volunteers to the funeral in order to present condolences to the family and professional colleagues of the National Fire Dept. The burial of Lieutenant Julián will take place this Friday in Cojutepeque. Foto: CDS

Altruism

*Courage, also known as fortitude, is the ability to confront fear, pain, danger, uncertainty or intimidation. It can be divided into “physical courage” — in face of physical pain, hardship, and threat of death — and “moral courage” — in the face of shame, scandal, and discouragement.

“Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear—not absence of fear”.

*Mark Twain

* Altruism (Old French “altrui” = other) may be understood as:

  • Behavior that increases the survival chances of others at the expense of a reduction of their own.
  • Personal sacrifice for the benefit of others.

Colatino published an excellent story on this theme here. We are also thankful for the infamous photojournalist Ricardo Segura for documenting the passion of our work as we serve the Salvadoran public.
